January Update

For the last couple of days, I’ve been thinking about how I need to get some new pictures posted here for you to seethe progress at the house.  Then I looked at the date of my last post and realized how long ago it was!

Here’s what’s been done at the house lately:  joists.  New joists have been built at each floor.  The floors are straight as an arrow and rock solid now.  No more of that bouncy, swaying, roller-coaster effect as you walk through the rooms.  We have ripped out the first floor bathroom. Billy stepped right through the bathroom floor!   The front gate fell off its hinges and knocked me down – had some lovely bruises for a while. Mat took down the wall between the dining room and the studio, and built a half-wall where we will put bar stools and a counter (it will be awesome, thanks, Mat!).  He made a new post-and-beam doorway out of old wood and I must tell you, it looks like it always was there.  Mat ripped out the front door and made the opening larger so it will now accommodate a normal sized door.

Floor joists and subfloor being installed on the first floor.

Mat is building a new half wall counter area. We really like this idea!
