Mother Earth News.

Hello, Mother Earth.

When I began to sell honey and homemade lip balms and creams I envisioned it as the perfect summertime venture.  I could go to farmers’ markets and enjoy hanging out in the beautiful warm, sunny weather, chatting about farming and making some coin.  There’s less gardening to do in the full bloom of summer as compared to spring and fall, and my future livestock would certainly be happy munching away in my perfectly groomed fields, thus allowing me time to cavort in the bee yard and make stuff (are you getting the sense that I’m daydreaming again?) My mistake in this was that I forgot about the winter.  And Christmas.  And Christmas shopping (

I have lately been filling all my free time in pursuit of production – making lip balm, filling lip balm tubes, wrapping and shipping lip balms… hand cream… soap… Don’t get me wrong, it’s awesome.  I’m a little pooped and just a little crazed at this point from working full time, going home and working full time again.  I will take a day off for Christmas, I swear!

All this business (bzzzzyness) has resulted in my neglect of this blog.  There are so many hours in the day, right? I got a message here in bloggoland a couple weeks ago from someone who read a comment I made in Mother Earth News Magazine.  Great.  Wait, what?

A pal just told me that he ALSO read a comment that I made in Mother.  So it has dawned on me that I must have said something good, and sure enough – there it is, my comment on page 74 of the Dec 12/Jan 13 issue.  And a link to my blog!  Awesome.  (Crap!  I haven’t posted on the dang blog since a month ago.)  It always works that way, doesn’t it?

Welcome, Mother readers. I’m in good company!

There is much exciting news and updates to share about the farm.  Construction is underway.  I promise -PROMISE – to write all about it! I have lots of photos to share.

As soon as I’m done making this next batch of lip balm.

Lee – even though it seems a little commercial, you should take your products on Shark Tank (TV show with investors) – I could see you getting funded in a minute and instead of “producing” at Christmas, you’d be with your feet up in that beautiful farmhouse!

    You’re the Balm!!

  3. That’s where I found the link to your website/blog, so I hope to snoop around and find out about the story of acquiring the foreclosed property. Thank you for being among the contributors there! -‘tarotworldtour’
