Tales of a Foreclosure Virgin – Part IV: The Wrinkle Gets Ironed (we hope)

Best and final offer.  How do you decide what that is without having any clue about the other bidder?  Their bid could be lower than yours.  Or way higher.  All I know is that I had made an offer which Megabank was perfectly fine with, and now somebody else was killing my joy and it was going to cost me $10,000 more.  $10,000 which may or may not get me back success.

Megabank gave us 24 hours to submit our new offer.  Megabank took 4 agonizing days to decide which offer they would take.

The other guys bid more.  Seriously.

Yet the bank gave the house back to me.  Why?  Apparently because I was willing to close right away.  The other guys wanted time.  So foreclosure novices, what have we learned today?

That’s right.  You have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what the bank is thinking at any given moment.
